Review Process

Peer Review Process

1. Initial checks

The editorial office checks scope, completeness, anonymity, readability, and declarations. Incomplete files may be returned. Registration and administrative checks do not imply acceptance.

2. Editorial assessment

An editor assesses originality, scholarly contribution, methods, evidence, and integrity. A manuscript may be declined before external review, with an explanation. Conflicted editors recuse themselves and transfer handling.

3. Independent external review

Substantive scholarly articles normally undergo double-anonymous peer review. Authors provide an anonymous manuscript and a separate title page; editors seek at least two independent subject-specialist reports. Any justified exception is documented by the handling editor. Preprints or subject matter can limit anonymity. Reviewers declare conflicts and maintain confidentiality.

4. Decision and revision

The editor evaluates the manuscript and reports and decides accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Authors provide a point-by-point response and revised manuscript in the existing submission record. Revisions may be reviewed again; revision does not guarantee acceptance.

5. Production

Accepted articles proceed to copyediting, typesetting, author proof approval, and issue scheduling. JKD publishes one issue per month. No fixed review duration or particular publication date is guaranteed.

Article-type exceptions and independence

Book reviews, correspondence, editorials, and notices may receive editorial assessment, with external review where appropriate; the route is identified. Research articles are not exempt because they are invited, part of a special issue, or written by editors or board members. Such submissions require independent handling.

Confidentiality, AI, and appeals

Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts or reports to external generative AI services. AI does not replace independent assessment. Authors may submit a reasoned appeal identifying factual or procedural errors to editor@jkdjournal.com. An uninvolved editor considers appeals where possible; complaints about an editor are referred to independent handling.
