Submit clear English prose and select the article type that best fits the contribution. Use DOC or DOCX when possible; other supported formats are listed below. Use a readable 12-point font, 1.5 or double spacing, page numbers and consistent heading levels. Line numbering is helpful for review. There is no compulsory decorative layout or two-column format for initial submissions.
Title abstract and keywords
Use a specific informative title. Include an abstract of 200–300 words explaining the question or purpose, approach, principal findings or argument and contribution. Do not invent results or use unexplained abbreviations. Provide 4–6 searchable keywords. Exceptions for brief non-research formats are explained under Article Types.
Main text and disciplinary flexibility
Organise the paper according to its research tradition. Empirical articles normally cover introduction, relevant literature, methods, results, discussion and conclusion. Humanities and conceptual articles may use thematic sections. Explain how sources or participants were selected and analysed. Distinguish findings from interpretation and acknowledge limitations.
Anonymous review files
Upload an anonymous manuscript and a separate title page. Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgements and identifying file metadata from the review file. Cite your own work normally rather than replacing every self-citation with “author”. Use neutral placeholders only where a declaration or source would otherwise directly identify the authors; restore full details for production.
References quotations and permissions
Use APA 7 author–date referencing consistently. Match every in-text citation to a reference entry and verify authors, titles, dates, page ranges and DOI or URL where available. Give page or source locations for quotations. Explain archival and primary-source conventions where needed. Obtain permission for material that cannot lawfully be reproduced without it.
Tables figures and supplementary material
Number and cite each table and figure in order. Supply informative captions, units, notes and definitions. Tables should be editable. Do not rely on colour alone to communicate distinctions. Name supplementary files clearly and describe their content and relation to the paper. Remove private data and third-party material that cannot be shared.
Declarations and title page
Provide all author names, affiliations, corresponding-author email and ORCID where available on the separate title page. Include contributions, funding and funder role, competing interests, ethics approval or exemption, consent, data and code availability, acknowledgements and substantive AI assistance where relevant. State “not applicable” only when accurate; explain access restrictions instead of promising unavailable data.
Cover letter and revisions
Briefly explain the contribution, journal fit, article type and any related work or preprint. Confirm author approval and exclusive journal consideration truthfully. For revisions, respond to each comment, identify changes and explain any disagreement. Upload the revised files within the original submission.
Before submission
Use the downloadable checklist and review the ethics, peer review and fees pages. Submission does not guarantee review or acceptance. Register or log in to submit online. Save your draft at any stage and complete the final confirmation to send it to the editorial office.
Submission File Formats
Prepare the main text in English with an abstract of 200–300 words and 4–6 keywords. Files must open correctly and must not be password-protected.
File purpose
Formats
Preparation requirements
Main manuscript
DOC, DOCX (preferred); ODT, RTF; PDF for initial submission and review
Provide editable source files before production. Use a separate title page and remove author-identifying details from the review manuscript and file properties.
LaTeX manuscripts
Compiled PDF plus TEX, BIB and required figure files in a ZIP archive
Include all sources needed to compile the document. Do not include executable scripts or unrelated files.
Title page and cover letter
DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF or PDF
Title page: author names, affiliations, corresponding-author contact and ORCID where available. Keep these files separate from the anonymous manuscript.
Figures and illustrations
TIFF, TIF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, SVG, EPS or PDF
Provide separate original files, numbered captions and permissions when needed. Use publication-quality resolution, normally at least 300 dpi for raster photographs at final size. Preserve editable/vector originals where possible.
Tables
Editable tables in DOC/DOCX; XLS, XLSX or CSV as separate files
Number tables, supply titles and notes, and define abbreviations. Avoid screenshots of tables.
Data and supplementary text
CSV, TSV, TXT, XLS, XLSX, DOC, DOCX or PDF; ZIP for multiple related files
Include a README, describe the contents and remove confidential or identifying data. Use a trusted repository for large datasets and provide its persistent link.
Code and media supplements
Source-code files or ZIP; MP4 for video, MP3 or WAV for audio
Describe software requirements, versions and licensing. Use a repository for large files. Do not upload executables, macros or sensitive information.
Accepted article / publication
Editable source plus final publication PDF
The editorial team prepares or approves the final PDF. A submitted PDF is not automatically a published article.
File naming and upload
Use clear names such as Manuscript_Anonymous.docx, Title_Page.docx, Figure_1.tif and Supplement_1.csv. Assign the appropriate file component during upload. Upload limits depend on the server configuration; contact the journal before sending unusually large files.
For LaTeX, upload the compiled anonymous PDF for review and the source archive as a separate file. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.
Publication frequency, current fees, and AI assistance
JKD publishes monthly: one issue per month, twelve issues per year. Submission, peer review, and article publication currently carry no fee or page charge. Any future proposed charge must be disclosed and agreed in advance.
AI tools cannot be authors. Disclose substantive generative AI assistance, identifying the tool/version, purpose, and affected sections. Human authors must verify references, facts, code, and results and remain accountable. Do not submit fabricated evidence or upload confidential or personal information without appropriate safeguards and permission. See the full AI use policy.
Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting, I confirm that: • All authors have approved the manuscript, author order and submission. • The work is not under consideration by another journal. Prior publications, related manuscripts and preprints are disclosed. • An anonymous manuscript and a separate title page have been prepared, including removal of identifying file metadata. • The abstract is 200–300 words and 4–6 keywords are supplied where required for the article type. • References, tables and figures have been checked; permissions and any required ethics approval and consent are documented. • Funding, competing interests, author contributions, data/code availability and substantive AI assistance are disclosed where applicable. • I have read the current journal policies. Submission does not guarantee review or acceptance.
Research Articles
Original research from all academic disciplines, including empirical, experimental, computational, qualitative, theoretical, conceptual, methods, case, policy, replication, negative-results and data/resource studies. Provide a 200–300-word abstract and 4–6 keywords, an anonymous manuscript and a separate title page. Scholarly research is assessed through double-anonymous peer review. State the precise article type in the cover letter.
Review Articles
Critical, integrative, systematic and scoping reviews and meta-analyses across all disciplines. Explain the question, search or selection strategy, synthesis and limitations. Supply a 200–300-word abstract, 4–6 keywords, anonymous manuscript and separate title page. Double-anonymous peer review applies.
Short Communications and Perspectives
Short communications, research notes, perspectives and scholarly essays from all disciplines. State the precise format in the cover letter. Substantive research requires a 200–300-word abstract and 4–6 keywords. Use anonymous review files and a separate title page. Scholarly contributions undergo double-anonymous peer review. Brevity does not remove requirements for evidence, ethics and transparent methods.
Book Reviews and Correspondence
Critical book and media reviews and focused scholarly correspondence. Provide full details of the work discussed, disclose relationships or competing interests, and support criticisms with evidence. Abstracts are optional. These contributions receive editorial assessment; external review may be requested when appropriate. Submit an anonymous text and a separate title page. Original research should use the Research Articles or Short Communications section.
